CURRICULUM
“Emergent curriculum” is an integral part of the JIB approach to teaching. Emergent curriculum is developed
from and related to children's needs, interests, or interactions with their social and physical environment. Some aspects
of the daily curriculum are pre-planned by the teachers and respond to group and individual needs. In order to provide an
environment that will stimulate and support the development of children’s ideas and interests, teachers provide a diversity
of materials and hands on activities, i.e. dramatic props, various manipulatives, basic art, etc. Recognition of holidays
and various cultural celebrations are experienced through music, literature and cooking projects. The classroom schedule is
structured to allow time for play and independent exploration by children. HANDWRITTING WITHOUT TEARS "Handwritting
Without Tears" is a proven success in making legible and fluent handwritting an easy and automatic skill for all students.
It uses fun, entertaining and educationally sound instructional methods to teach handwriting to all students Pre-K through
cursive. "Handwritting Without Tears" is being used in more and more Public Schools.
